About Me
Hello!
I am the one called Jawish Hameed and I hail from the tropical paradise of Maldives.
I graduated from the University of Reading with a Masters in Engineering in Artificial Intelligence and Cybernetics. After university, I co-founded a UK-based startup called PlayRobots developing complex robotic platforms but we folded after a year in the midst of the financial crisis. I returned to the Maldives and worked at a company called Semicolon as the Chief Software Architect and later also became one of its directors.
I love science and engineering, championing it with the public. I have worked with and lead various local movements related to science and technology. I am a co-founder of the Kickstart group which hosts yearly public hackathons in the Maldives. I am a co-founder of Science Emmenah, the premier science education and awareness non-profit/NGO in the Maldives. I am also a Member of Faculty Advisory Committee, Faculty of Science at the Maldives National University.
I spend time tinkering with code, slapping together circuits and dreaming of solutions to grandiose problems. I have developed and released various free or open-source software including Blobsy the popular PHP-based MSN Messenger bot framework; Radheef.comthe oldest and longest running online dictionary for Dhivehi language, Javascript Thaana Keyboard which adds keyboard handling for Thaana input on the web; Filibari Keyboard for Android, the first purpose-designed and optimized keyboard for Thaana entry on mobile devices; and a bunch of others.
I use this blog to voice my opinions and share what I create.
Hope you enjoy your stay.
